Priyanka in Hospital

Remember the big dramatic sequence in Prakash Mehra's Zanjeer where the Big B playing the scowling ireful cop Vijay drags Jaya Bhaduri, the reluctant eyewitness for the villain Teja's crime, into the hospital to show her first-hand the mayhem that he has caused?

This week director Apoorva Lakhia shot that sequence with Ramcharan and Priyanka Chopra for the neo-Zanjeer.

And the venue of the shooting was Ramcharan's wife Upasana Kamineni's hospital, the massive pride of Hyderabad, the Apollo.

An eyewitness from the scene of the melee says, "It was like a rally for big-time politicians, the kind of crowds that Narendra Modi attracts at his election rallies. That's how popular Ramcharan is in Andhra. And when you add Priyanka Chopra to the proceedings you've got a virtual stampede on hand. The minute news spread that Priyanka and Ramcharan were shooting in his wife's hospital, all of Hyderabad swooped down on the place."

It was Ramacharan's wife Upasana idea to shoot at the Apollo.

Says our source, "The Zanjeer unit earlier planned to shoot the crucial dramatic sequence in another hospital of Hyderabad. Upasana protested, and insisted that they shoot at Apollo. 'How can you shoot in another hospital when you've the best available?' she argued. No one argues with Upasana, most certainly not Ramcharan. So we decided to shoot the sequence at Apollo making sure that the news of the venue didn't go out to the public."

Within 20 minutes of the shooting the hospital resembled a political rally.

Says the eyewitness, "The entire city of Hyderabad seemed to be there. You see, you have to understand Upasana's hospital is like a luxury hotel. It's like the Kokilaben hospital in Mumbai. There's no restricted entry into the premises. People walk into the main area as and how they wish. So it became a free-for-all, with the Hyderabadi junta demanding a dekko at Ramcharan and Priyanka."

Says the eyewitness, "We were doing that very dramatic scene from the original in a corner of the sprawling hospital. We somehow managed and none of us had to be admitted into the hospital during shooting (laughs). For this we need to thank Ramcharan's and Priyanka's bodyguards who were firm but not rude. If the public felt snubbed they would have disrupted our shooting."

Aamir Khan is known to promote his films in rather innovative ways. For his upcoming suspense drama Talaash, Aamir along with his marketing team came up with yet another unique idea.

Since Aamir plays Inspector Shekhawat, a cop who is investigating a tough case, he thought it would be rather apt if during the promotions of the film he got a chance to interact with crime journalists especially those who have done investigative journalism. Aamir has been a keen follower of crime and investigative journalism and he thinks that they do a very commendable job in the tough circumstances. Hence he would be meeting and interacting with various crime journalists during his promotional spree in various cities of India.

Talaash starring Aamir Khan, Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor releases worldwide on November 30.

Yes, Amala has fallen in the eyes of biggies after doing 'Love Failure' and now, Regina is also heading towards such fate with 'Routine Love Story'. Sesh Adivi, the guy who debuted as actor and director with 'Karma' movie is the man we are talking about. He has shot to fame after doing a powerful role of Jackie Shroff's son in the movie Panjaa. After that Sesh has become too choosy about scripts and finally signed our Mass Raja. This handsome hunk is going to be the lead antagonist for Raviteja's upcoming flick 'Balupu', say sources. 'Don Seenu' fame Gopichand Malineni is handling Ravi for the second time and the presence of Sesh is surely raising the bar of this flick.

If Sesh Adivi clicks big time and stays in the villain circuit, then Tollywood will surely enjoy the presence of a Telugu villain at least for a time. We have to see what happens!

Aswini Dutt has the knack of bringing crazy combination on board for his every film and he sticks to his strengths again. He is already in talks with a hotshot director for making it a grand launch vehicle.

Earlier Nandita was supposed to be lead girl of Dasari Maruti's 'Bus Stop', but took an exit from that flick. Both had some decent runs in Tollywood till date, except the fact that Samantha is a top-starlet while Richa is a sought after second fiddle. Sam was kicked from Charan's 'Yevadu' recently and followed by Richa's forceful exit from Nitin's 'Courier Boy Kalyan'. More than saying that creative decisions have sacked them, insiders stated that is a matter of handling tantrums that is pushing our makers to keep these girls aside.

So sad those two top sirens are getting labelled this way, and we have to see how strong these babes will answer these happenings. Samantha is having three biggies in hand that are getting ready for release, while Richa is also proud to be part of two big flicks as second heroines. Wait and see!

New Characters in Zanjeer

Apart from having all the existing characters of the Zanjeer original in the remake too, Director Apporva Lakhia have created some new ones after changing the script to suit the tastes of modern day audience.

One such role is will be portrayed by noted character artist Atul Kulkarni. "I was roped in to play a role which is completely new and original. You willn't find it in the 1973 super hit. The shooting of my portion will begin from November end," confirms the actor.

The star cast of this Rs 70-crore Hindi-Telugu bi-lingual is keeping the expectations souring higher. At first it was Priyanka Chopra, Prakash Raj, Mahi Gill, then Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood joined the cast, now Atul too playing his part. It's getting bigger and better with each passing day. One this is for sure, Ram Charan mayn't have had a better launch vehicle than Zanjeer if in case this flick didn't materialize.

Zanjeer makers are planning to release the film on May 11, the same day on which the original had hit the screens. So, the coming summer is going to be action packed.

Birthday Boy's Gift To NTR

He is celebrating his birthday, yet he is the one who is giving gifts to our energetic hero. Currently Film Nagar is raving about this stuff and here goes the real story.

On one side he looks so lively with his foot tapping tunes and devastating numbers that set stages on fire. On the other side, he is cute looking like a 'teddy bear' and he is none other than music director Thaman. Today happens to be his birthday and director Harish Shankar complimented him for giving Birthday Day gift to them, rather taking it. Harish is the one to call Thaman as a teddy bear before it got popularized in the whole circles. Reportedly Thaman has given two stunning tunes for NTR-Harish Shankar's upcoming movie under the production of Dil Raju. We need to wait for months at least to listen to those songs anyway.

Thaman is also on fire it seems to give blockbuster music, as the young rebel music director hasn't given any best album after Mahesh-Puri's blockbuster 'Businessman'. Happy birthday and all the best Thaman!

Sunny Leone in a workshop

Ragini MMS may have been one of those small unassuming ventures by Ekta Kapoor when she released it last year. However the surprise success of the film has made her all the more ambitious about nurturing it further as a franchise. Though roping in of Sunny Leone has already made the film big enough on paper, now she also wants the adult star's 'performance' to do the talking.

"Ragini MMS as a brand has two core constituents for it - sex and horror. For the former, there is Sunny on board and for the latter there is Bhushan Patel as a director who recently made a successful debut with 1920 - Evil Returns which is a hit. While this combination coupled with Ekta's marketing prowess would have been good enough to make the film hot much before its release, she wants more. She has allocated good budget for the pre-production as well", says a source connected to the film.

As of now as a bare minimum there is a 15 day workshop being planned with Sunny. Also, indications are that there would be some pre-release publicity created around the film's launch as well.

"Though no one can challenge Sunny's sex appeal, from the performance perspective too she had managed to hit decent notes with Jism 2. That was a pleasant surprise in itself. However Ekta as well as Bhushan feel that Ragini MMS 2 would require Sunny to go many notches here. They want the film to be more than just a sex driven affair", the source continues.

Thankfully for the makers, Sunny has agreed to an early visit as well. While the film's shooting would begin in Mumbai around January 15 next year, Sunny would be in town at least 10 days in advance for the workshop. That would involve participation from Sunny as well as her co-actor, the auditions for whom are currently on.

When contacted, Bhushan confirmed the details.

However given the core genre of the film, one wonders whether Sunny would indeed need a 'workshop' to get her on-camera 'act' right!

Urmila to endorse Snickers?

Just yesterday, we had reported that the ageless Diva, Rekha has been signed up as the brand ambassador of the chocolate major Snickers, as per reliable sources tell us.

Now, we hear that besides Rekha, there's also the original 'Miss Oomph-matic' Urmila Matondar, who has also been signed up to endorse the said brand. It will be really nice to see Urmila, who has been missing in the spotlight for long, to be been back in action!

The official confirmation of the same is being awaited.

Nadiadwala signs Anushka Ranjan

A few weeks ago, Sajid Nadiadwala signed Tamannaah Bhatia as the lead actress opposite Tiger Shroff in Heropanti. And now, the news is that Nadiadwala has signed yet another newcomer Anushka Ranjan. In fact Sajid will be launching Anushka, the elder daughter of Anu and Shashi Ranjan, in his next venture.

Though the details of the film are yet unavailable, Anushka's father Shashi confirms the deal, stating that Sajid has taken Anushka under his wings and is mentoring her for a mega project which will go on the floors in mid 2013.

However, confirmation from Nadiadwala's office regarding the same is still awaited.

Huma Qureshi to deliver a lecture

Post the release of her debut film, Huma Qureshi has become one high flyer overnight. After having been on the wish list of many film makers, the latest update about this hottie is that she been invited to talk to the students of a film school in Chicago to deliver a lecture to the students about her journey in Bollywood. In addition to the lecture, she will also be felicitated at the function.

News reports have it that since she has a strong theatre background minus a Godfather in Bollywood, the said school felt that she is just the apt choice. Do we see future Huma Qureshis in the making?

Himesh takes Khiladi 786

Himesh Reshammiya is ensuring that the music of his Khiladi 786 goes places. Well, literally! For his upcoming London concert at Wembley, he would be playing a medley of songs from the film which would be incidentally released around the same time.

"While the film releases all over on December 7, the concert would be held a few days later on Dec 16. Himesh is expected to fly after film is through with its first weekend. While he is in the process of short-listing songs that he would be singing at the concert, the ones at the top of the list are obviously from his soon-to-be-released film. In fact he has been getting requests to sing 'Balma', 'Lonely', 'Saari Saari Raat' and the latest arrival 'Hookah Bar'. Himesh is planning to form a medley of these songs and come up with something creative that would make the experience memorable indeed", says a close associate.

In fact some of his diehard fans are also planning to felicitate him for his consistency by equating his resurgence as a composer to that of Sachin Tendulkar in the field of sports.

"Both are in their late 30s, share the same year of birth and have proven their consistency in their respective domain. The moment Himesh decided to compose for outside films, it seemed as if he hadn't gone away anywhere. Flurry of successes during last year and a half with multiple chartbusters added to his name is a testimony to that", adds an insider, "Now when he travels to Wembley, he can't disappoint his fans. He has to do something special for them."

Sunny Leone signs 3 film deal

Sunny Leone, who created a lot of stir when she debuted in Jism 2 earlier this year, has signed a 3 film deal with Alumbra Entertainment (the makers behind the recently released Bhoot Returns). Sunny will film the first among the films in the second quarter of 2013 and the rest of them will be shot later one after the other and released after the release of Sunny's second film Ragini MMS 2. The subjects are being finalised between Alumbra Entertainment and the actress at the moment.

A spokesperson for Alumbra confirmed the development, "Sunny will do her third, fourth and fifth film after Jism 2 and Ragini MMS with us. We will share details at the opportune moment."

Alumbra Entertainment is producing a series of films which started with the release of Bhoot Returns last week followed by Ab Tak Chhappan 2 in November, Warning by Anubhav Sinha in December, and RGV's film on the 26/11 attacks which will be releasing on Republic Day in 2013. Alumbra Entertainment also has Singh Saab The Great directed by Anil Sharma which is expected to go on the floors by the end of the year.

Jackie Shroff plays murderer

A while ago we had informed you about Mallika Sherawat and Om Puri coming together in K.C.Bokadia's film called Dirty Politics. Now actor Jackie Shroff too has been roped in for a pivotal part in the film.

The film revolved around the infamous Bhanwari Devi murder case and has Mallika playing a Rajasthani street dancer who aspires to be the C.M. of Rajasthan. Jackie Shroff will be seen playing the guy who murders Mallika in the film. Dirty Politics also stars Anupam Kher, Atul Kulkarni and Ashutosh Rana.

Prithviraj to relocate to Mumbai

Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil cinema's star-actor Prithviraj Sukuraman who has just made an impressive Bollywood debut as Rani Mukerji's aromatic amour in Aiyyaa will wrap up his assignments in the South by the end of the year and move home from the South to Mumbai in January 2013.

His wife Supriya who used to a BBC journalist has been busy hunting for a home for the couple in Mumbai while Prithvi has been immersed in completing his films on the floor.

Speaking of his plans to relocate into Bollywood, Prithiviraj said, "Mumbai will be my home now for a while. Since I'm serious about a career in Hindi films, I'd have to relocate to Mumbai. Supriya and I are not rushing into buying property. Since we are relocating into Mumbai, we want to buy ourselves the best apartment possible. While we find the ideal love nest, we'll rent a place in Mumbai in January when after completing my assignments we move to Mumbai. Once we are in a rented place in Mumbai we can look for a home to buy, aaraam se."

Prithviraj who has already signed a second Hindi film, says he has left all the nitty-gritty regarding their new residence in Mumbai to his wife. "Though Supriya is a Malayali, she has spent a large part of her life in Mumbai. She's a Mumbai girl. In fact I saw the real Mumbai through Supriya's eyes. Of course I knew Mumbai before I got to know Supriya. But it was Supriya who showed me sides to Mumbai I had never seen."

The urge to see the real Mumbai got hold of Prithviraj after he read Gregory David Roberts' novel Shantaram. "Suddenly a new side to Mumbai opened up in my mind. I wanted to see all the places described in the novel like Haji Ali and the Leopold cafe. Supriya was a friend. I asked her to show me all these places. I invited myself over to Mumbai and Supriya took over my life for the next few weeks. This was when we fell in love and decided to get married. So the city holds great romance and relevance for me. I'd love to return to live in the city that gave the love of my life."

Prithvi's voice fills up with affectionate gratitude when he talks about his wife. "She gave up her job to join me in the South. I owe her a lot. I don't think I would be what I am today without her support."

Prithviraj who had been acting from age of 19 and has done films in three South Indian languages, doesn't see Aiyyaa as a debut in new language. "When the director came to me with the offer, I didn't focus on the language. In any case, my character doesn't speak much. I was just fascinated by the concept of the girl, Rani, falling in love with the scent of a man. I'd have accepted the offer in any language. At this stage of my career I'm looking for new challenges."

Prithviraj has signed a Yash Raj film Aurangzeb. He has an interesting story to tell on how he signed it. "I was shooting for the song 'Aga Bai' for Aiyyaa on one of the floors at Yash Raj when the casting director at Yash Raj asked me if I'd be interested in auditioning for a part. I agreed. When I heard the role I was hooked."

Prithviraj says he is very confident of his role in Aurangzeb although Arjun Kapoor has a double role in the film.

"I wouldn't have accepted the role if I wasn't satisfied with what was offered to me. I am in no rush to get anywhere. I am here to stay. Mumbai is my home from January."

Protest against Akshay

The news that Akshay Kumar will be inaugurating the IFFI, that's scheduled to take place in Goa from November 20, has been welcomed by all but a right wing Hindu outfit. The reason? The outfit thinks that Akshay has allegedly hurt religious sentiments in his recent film OMG Oh My God!

Manoj Solanki of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti State Convenor, in a memorandum to Chief Minister of Goa - Manohar Parrikar, said that the film has already hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus. He added that the inauguration of a major international event like IFFI at the hands of the producer of the film, Akshay, is like rubbing salt on the wounds of Hindus in this secular state.

While the Goa government is yet to take any action with respect to the memorandum, reports have it that Entertainment Society of Goa, which is a nodal agency conducting the festival, has said that the memorandum would be discussed in the high level committee before arriving at any decision

The upcoming film Student Of The Year (SOTY) directed by Karan Johar featuring Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra has been much talked about and no wonder then that Bollywood filmmakers are trying to attach their promos to the biggie. The one film whose promo you can surely see with SOTY is Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and starring Imran Khan and Anushka Sharma.

KJo, who has always been fond of Imran Khan, has attached the first promo of Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola along with SOTY. Confirming the attachment, Imran's spokesperson said, "Yes...the much awaited trailer of Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola will be seen in theatres with Student Of The Year."

Raveena Tandon wins best actress

This week Raveena Tandon has much reason to rejoice. She has won the Best Actress award for her performance in Sudipto Chattopadhyay's Shobhna's 7 Nights at the Houston Bollywood Film Festival which concluded on October 7 with the announcement of Raveena's triumph.

Interestingly, there is only one acting award at the Houston Bollywood Film Festival which covers both the male and female category of nominations. Raveena therefore beat competition from Abhay Deol and Emraan Hashmi in Dibakar Bannerjee's Shanghai to get the award.

Squealing in delight from Houston after the announcement, Raveena said, "I've hardly received awards in my career so far. I did get the National award for Daman. But that was a one-off thing. I thought I deserved recognition for Shool and Aks. But I was seen as glamorous commercial actress. Hence, not eligible for awards. Now when I've played the most glamorous role of my life, I get the Best Actress award. Ironical, isn't it?"

She was specially kicked about beating male competition with her performance. "In India and in most awards the world over, they have separate categories for male and female performance. But here in Houston we were all judged in the same category. That was quite flattering."

Ekta Kapoor to remake Nagin

Rajkumar Kohli's multi-starrer Nagin is all set to be remade by Ekta Kapoor's production house Balaji Motion Pictures. The dynamic filmmaker has acquired the remake rights from Kohli. However, the director and cast of the remake is yet to be finalized. Confirming the same, Ekta Kapoor tweeted, "Naagin reboot-nothing more venomous than a woman in love's revenge!"

Nagin, which released in 1976, starred bigwigs like Sunil Dutt, Feroz Khan, Jeetendra, Sanjay Khan, Vinod Mehra, Rekha, Mumtaz and Reena Roy who played the title role.

It is heard that during the audio release function of Krish's new film 'Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum' girls came running and took his autograph. With only two films, Krish has got so much following among the ladies. The reason for that is, his success and the way he speaks which sparks intelligence.

Family Hero's 'NEW' Condition

Jagapathi Babu is known as the hero who can be easily assessable and anyone could become a director/producer if they can impress him with the storyline. But, that's gonna change now!

During the recent pressmeet, Jagapathi Babu has announced that he has decided not to sign the film if both director and producer are debutants. "Few people are casting me just based on the price of satellite rights my films will earn. There were instances in the past where some producers failed to release the film on time and promote it aggressively. So, I have decided not to work if bothe the director and producer are newbies," he said, shocking the Industry folks.

Jagapathi also claims the credit for the impressive openings his recent film 'Shiva Thandavam' has fetched. To those who love/hate/follow Ram Gopal Varma, the time is approaching to get a true insight on him and his life. This is happening through the book 'Vodka With Varma' written by Sirasri. Slated to be an exclusive and deeply revealing details of the eccentric filmmaker, here is an update.

The author has unveiled the cover page of the book to give the first glance of what is to come. It is heard that the book contains interesting and controversial subjects related to RGV's life ranging from his ex-wife's thoughts on Ramu to some hidden facts from the cine celebrities.

The book is gearing up to release in the month of November and this would be in the Telugu version. The English version would be following soon. Given the fact that Vodka is Ramu's favorite drink, the book is expected to be quite tangy and will give the required kick to its readers.

NTR to score with Baadshah

This year has been a little disappointing for Nandamuri fans with the movies both Balayya and Jr NTR not doing as expected. But there should be done something to wipe those clouds out and here is NTR doing that.

Sreenu Vytla is leaving no stone unturned to give full-meals to the fans of Young Tiger who are waiting for double-strong blockbuster. And, NTR is now gearing up to start his next venture with director Harish Shankar. The Muhurtham of this movie is expected to take place on coming Dasara festival. Afterwards, NTR's movie will be with either Trivikram or Puri Jagan. If sources are to be believed, Young Tiger is also considering an artistic movie by a popular Tamil director.

English Vinglish failure in Telugu

A crucial factor for any film is the title because that is the one which creates the first impact and raises the curiosity. If the film is good but the title is not then that hampers the performance at box office. This is one key reason why the recent release 'English Vinglish' is having a tough time in Andhra Pradesh.

According to reports, the film got dubbed into Telugu and has been released with the same title. This is not suitable for Telugu nativity and many in the B, C centers are unable to connect with the title. Though Athiloka Sundari Sridevi is there in the film and this is her comeback, it is not working out.

Some are suggesting that the film should have been titled something like 'Sridevi English Paathaalu' and that would have created some interest. But right now, though the film is good and got good response from the audience it seems to have lost out on the inner markets.

Amrita Rao and Ameesha in Singh Saheb The Great

Sunny Deol will have not one but two heroines opposite him in Anil Sharma's next titled Singh Saheb The Great. The two ladies in question are Ameesha Patel and Amrita Rao.

While Ameesha would be seen playing a Punjabi girl in the film, Amrita would be seen playing a journalist. The shooting of the film begins in Jalandhar later this month.

Speaking about her role Amrita says, "Though my character is not romancing Singh Sahab (Sunny Deol) in the film..I feel honored to be his leading lady and share such a strong role and dominant screen space that runs almost in par with Sunny Deol's character throughout the film who is truly Bollywood's strongest actor with the warmest heart!"

Aamir at Big B's birthday bash?

Abhishek Bachchan who is shooting in Chicago for Dhoom 3 is expected to return to Mumbai on the morning of October 10 in time for his father's grand 70th birthday party.

What comes as a pleasant surprise is the news that Aamir Khan who is shooting in Chicago with Abhishek might also be flying down for this occasion, just for a day.

Says a source close to the Bachchans, "Aamir might fly back to Mumbai with Abhishek for the bash and then they'd both return to Chicago after the event."

When probed further we got to know that Aamir was "damn excited" about the event.

Says our source, "Aamir has been drawing closer to the Bachchan family for the last few years. Though Abhishek is very close to Shah Rukh and considers him the elder brother he never had, the junior Bachchan has become very close to Aamir during the Dhoom schedule in Chicago. There is major bonding happening out there."

Apparently, Aamir has also been advising Abhishek on how to go about his scenes in Dhoom 3. The two, we hear, are now on the same page.

When the topic of the Big B's birthday celebrations came up in Chicago, Aamir apparently showed a keen interest in the details.

Says our source, "Abhishek gladly shared all the plans and details adding he would have loved to have Aamir join him in his Dad's big moment. Aamir immediately suggested they fly down together."

At the time of writing this, attempts are being made to relieve Aamir from the schedule which is expected to continue till the third week of October.

Whether Aamir finally flies down to be at the bash or not, this incident has certainly brought him closer to the Bachchan family.

The past few days have been abuzz with the reports of Ram Charan's upcoming film Nayak in VV Vinayak's direction, got postponed to Summer 2013.

However, Producer DVV Danayya has came forward to clarify that these reports are utterly baseless. According to him, Nayak is shaping up well and it is bang on target to hit the screens this coming Sankranthi. Although the makers have earlier thought of releasing it on Jan 11, now the release has been advanced to 9th of January to cash in on the festival season.

Nayak is surrounded by positive buzz as soon as the project was announced with Charan & Vinayak combo and the impressive stills released by the makers have increased the expectations. Like all Vinayak's film, Nayak too is loaded with high voltage action sequences and Charan plays the role of youth who fights against anti-social elements. South actress Leena in Jaffna

Shoojit Sircar's political thriller Jaffna has finally found its leading lady. In fact the makers of the film have roped in south actress Leena Maria who will make her Bollywood debut opposite John Abraham in the film.

Leena, who is shooting for Ravichandran's Tamil film, has mostly been seen playing glamourous roles in south. However, she will be experimenting with a de-glam avatar in Shoojit's film. She begins shooting for Jaffna by the end of October.

Jaffna is based on the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in Jaffna and will be shot at Fort Kochi, Kerala and in parts of Sri Lanka.
