August 26 will not be less than a landmark day for Ekta Kapoor and Sony TV. The reason? Well, that's the day when The Dirty Picture
will be aired (read 'premiered') on TV for the first time. Readers may
recall that in April, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry had
declared the film 'inappropriate' for primetime TV viewing and had hence
stalled the telecast of the film at the last minute. All of this,
despite the 59 cuts that were made in the film, to make it suitable for
television viewing.
In fact, the film will be shown not once but twice on August 26 viz., first at 12 pm and then at 8:30 pm, so tweeted Sneha Rajani (Senior Executive Vice President and Business Head, Sony). Meanwhile, Girish Johar (Head of Acquisition and Distribution- Balaji Motion Pictures) said that they are very elated and happy that finally after receiving accolades and moolah across the globe, their National Award-winning film will make it to the TV screens as well for home-viewing audiences to be entertained all across.
